Please Join us for a Film Screening with Project Co-Founders

Tuesday, August 4, 2026
Join us for a screening of Close Encounters of the 34th Avenue Kind, a documentary telling the inspiring story of New York City's acclaimed 34th Avenue Open Street. Once a roadway for cars, the 1.5-mile corridor has been transformed into a vibrant public space where neighbors walk, bike, play, and connect. Following the film, Iowa City native and University of Iowa graduate Rita Wade, along with co-founder Jim Burke, will participate in a live Q&A about the project and its impact on community life and active transportation.
